I might just go here instead of Rhinebeck in a years time.
There is just somethign about the Harveyville Project that really appeals to me. Perhaps it’s the idea of affordable artist space or the fact that part of me really wants to live in a craft/artisan commune/farm. Personally I blame my Dad for making me watch that documentary about Rochedale College, that is where the real seeds of community liveing/learning were planted.
One of my coworkers who is himself an old hippy artist person and I were talking about how there are a lot of older artisans who are starting to get on in years and we are running a strong risk of losing all their skills and knowledge. How cool would it be for there to be some sort of place where these people could come and teach workshops and pass on their knowledge to another generation?!
The trick is to this kind of setup is that someone has to be in charge/have the final say (but you don’t want them going all Kurtz on you) and don’t let people drop eggs down the stairs, unless they are going to clean it up when they are done (that was where Rochedale started to slide down hill).

Yay! Yarn School is so much fun. Even I had fun last time and I was a nervous wreck.
There aren’t an awful lot of rules at The Harveyville Project. You’re even allowed to feed the skunks.
I lived in at Rochdale Collage one weekend, for a month. It was that kind of place ,I had a job of cleaning ****** out of ******. Ask me about it some time. I’m amazed I even remember it.
